Singapore Greater Southern Waterfront
“Gateway to Future Live, Work & Play”
The Greater Southern Waterfront, Singapore
What is: The Greater Southern Waterfront is the initiative of URA Singapore (Urban Redevelopment of Singapore) and the relentless effort to transform the southern part of Singapore to be Gateway to Future Live, Work & Play.
The Greater Southern Waterfront, which extends from Pasir Panjang to Marina East, will be transformed into a new major gateway and location for urban living along Singapore’s southern coast.
Development will take place in phases, starting with the former Pasir Panjang Power District, Keppel Club and Mount Faber in the next 5 to 10 years.
The aboved ideas mainly focus on 4 sections. These are

1) Continuous Waterfront Promenade which will be extended from Marina Bay toward Keppel & Tanjong Pagar Terminal, through Vivocity, Harbourfront, Labrador Nature Reserve and Park, Pasir Panjang and Jurong Lake District. In the National Day Rally 2019 speech by PM Lee of Singapore, he highlighted that the huge transformations in Singapore Living Space are already taking shape as Keppel Club & Golf Course which its lease expires has origins dating back to 1904, will not have its lease extended after it expires on Dec 31, 2021, as the land is needed by Government for developing housing development.

2)Possible Waterfront Reservoir. Referring to the idea to create barrage and form Waterfront Reservoir from water way between Sentosa Island and Main Island onside at The Reflection at Keppel Bay, Corals At Keppel Bay, The Reef at Kings’ Dock, One Bernam, VivoCity, St James Power Station an Tanjong Pagar Terminal Road. Also create the Sealifes reserve. This will create both Reservoir at the same time as Singapore new recreation facilities “Sea Life Reserved”

3) Connect Green & Open Spaces will be the continuing efforts of linking Existing parks all together e.g. Berlayer Creek and Labrador Park, Pasir Panjang Linear Park, Mouth Faber Park and improve the existing links.
A continuous waterfront promenade will seamlessly connect various places of interest along the Greater Southern Waterfront in future. Along this corridor, the new Pasir Panjang Linear Park will connect West Coast Park to Labrador Nature Reserve, and offer park users a glimpse of Pasir Panjang’s working container port and Power District up close. Other future connections will also link up places of interest along the waterfront to the hilltops for visitors to enjoy a distinctive recreational experience.

"Live"
Live– Beside the existing high end waterfronts residential projects on Sentosa Island and along the Keppel Bay i.e. Reflections at Keppel Bay, Caribbean at Keppel Bay, Corals At Keppel Bay and the most recent announcement by Developer “The Reef At King’s Dock. The Existing Keppel Club & Golf Course will be subject to URA planning for private & public hosing development.

"WORK"
Work– Tanjong Pagar Port is in the process in moving to Tuas. Starting 2027 when the ports’ leases expired. It will free up and create a larger number of white sites, a land zoning that gives developers more flexibility in assessing the development options for specific land parcels which government through URA has a free hand in deciding the mix of uses – including hotel, office, residential, retail, entertainment and serviced apartments – and the quantum of floor space allocated for each use on the site, within the total permissible gross floor area for the entire development.
"PLAY"
Play– Recreations in Sentosa Island will be improved further, new types of recreation facilities will be crated following the new southern waterfront promenade and at the Waterway between Sentosa and Private Condominiums site along Keppel Bay, includes The Reef at King’s Dock. I for see that due to accessibilities to Waterway, the access will be possible only from existing Tanjong Pagar Port(might have park and access) and another possible access it likely from the Northern side of Sentosa Island.
In term of Social Entertainments, PM Lee, Prime Minister of Singapore, mentioned in the NPD Rally 2019 that “the 2 decommissioned Power Stations will have a new uses as Social Entertainment and nightlife, the same as St. James Power Station.
